Safety & Contraindications

Can I wax, massage or spray tan over a new tattoo?

Not until it's fully healed — and "healed" means longer than most clients think.

A fresh tattoo is an open wound. The surface can look settled within 2–3 weeks, but the deeper layers take 4–6 weeks to close, sometimes longer on high-friction areas like ribs, feet, and inner arms. Until then, three risks apply: introducing infection into broken skin, pulling scabs or plasma crust and damaging the artwork (which the client will blame on you, not their aftercare), and triggering contact reactions on skin that's already inflamed.

By treatment:

Two things to log every time: the tattoo's age and location at consultation, and any adaptation you made. If a client's tattoo later scars or patches, your record showing you asked, advised, and adapted is the difference between a complaint and a claim.

Every client, remembered — safely.

SAY-OS keeps each client's contraindications, allergies and history in one place, and flags them at booking — so the right call happens before they're in the chair.
